LSG vs DC Highlights, IPL 2026: Sameer Rizvi’s Heroic 70 Powers Delhi Capitals to 6-Wicket Win Over Lucknow Super Giants

DC Open IPL 2026 with Easy Win Over Lucknow Super Giants In Delhi

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Vs Delhi Capitals (DC) IPL 2026 Match at Ekana Cricket Stadium

Delhi Capitals (DC) got off to a winning start at IPL 2026 on Wednesday as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets in the Opener. Axar Patel’s men raced to victory as 22-year-old Sameer Rizvi slammed an unbeaten 70 to take Delhi out of trouble after a big top-order collapse and finish off the chase of 142 in just 17 overs.

LSG Collapse Against Delhi Pace Pair

DC captain Axar Patel won the toss and sent LSG in to bat. Delhi pacers wasted no time in tearing LSG apart from the get-go:

• Lungi Ngidi (3/27) & T. Natarajan (3/29) were partnerships-at-a-time killers

• Mitchell Marsh and Axar Patel’s early blitz was somewhat of a false dawn. Marshtopped out with a 28-ball 35.

• Abdul Samad top-scored for Lucknow with a gritty 36-ball 36 as LSG managed 141 all out in 18.4 overs.

• Kuldeep Yadav’s tight bowling figures of 2/31 effectively throttled the run-rate too.

DC’s Top-Order Falls Like a House of Cards vs Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami made an impressive debut for LSG as he cleaned up KL Rahul with the very first ball of his IPL 2026. Delhi’s top-order fell like a house of cards after that:

1. KL Rahul – 0 (1) C&B – Gulbis/Shami

2. Pathum Nissanka – 1 (5) LBW – Ngidi

3. Axar Patel – 0 (1) C&B – Prince Yadav

DC were reeling at 26/4 in the fifth over before youngster Sameer Rizvi teamed up with Tristan Stubbs to work wonders:

4. Sameer Rizvi* – 70* (51)

5. Tristan Stubbs* – 39* (32)

That unbeaten 119-run partnership off just 76 balls between Rizvi & Stubbs proved match-winning. Stubbs did well to keep his partner’s innings alive by anchoring the innings with a solid 39-ball 39*, while Rizvi smashed the daylights out of the LSG bowling attack.

“I just wanted to take it deep and stay calm. Respect the good balls and hit the bad ones,” said Rizvi after being awarded Player of the Match.

  • Bowling Depth: Despite losing early wickets, DC’s bowling performance earlier in the day set the stage for the win.
  • LSG’s Batting Woes: Apart from Samad and Marsh, the LSG batting lineup looked thin against a disciplined DC attack.
