The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be available across a wide variety of modern streaming devices and connected platforms. Fans will be able to watch matches live through smart TVs, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, gaming consoles, smartphones, tablets, and laptops.

Most official broadcasters now provide dedicated streaming apps that support high-definition and, in some cases, 4K viewing. Services such as YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and Fubo are also expected to offer live World Cup coverage in supported regions, giving viewers flexible ways to follow the tournament without a traditional cable subscription.

Can you watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup for free?

Several countries will offer free access to at least part of the tournament through national broadcasters and their digital streaming services. In the United Kingdom, matches are expected to air free-to-air on BBC and ITV, with streaming available through BBC iPlayer and ITVX. Australian viewers will be able to stream matches live through SBS On Demand, while selected matches in France are likely to be available through TF1+.

Can you watch the World Cup on YouTube?

YouTube is expected to become one of the biggest destinations for World Cup content throughout the tournament. While live match availability will depend on regional broadcasting rights, fans around the world will be able to access highlights, goal compilations, press conferences, tactical analysis, and behind-the-scenes content through official FIFA channels, broadcasters, and football creators.

Some broadcasters, including Brazil’s CazéTV, may also stream selected coverage directly through YouTube in approved regions.

FIFA World Cup 2026: France vs Spain: Blockbuster World Cup Semi-Final Confirmed

Spain are through to the FIFA World Cup 20 26 semi-finals after beating Belgium 2-1 in the quarter-final in Los Angeles.

Spain battled past Belgium with grit, tactics, and squad depth. Substitute Mikel Merino scored the late winner to book La Roja’s place in the semi-finals and set up a clash with France.

Spain book place in FIFA World Cup 2026 Semi-Finals

Spain have been superb in the World Cup so far and that form continued into the knockout stages. Spain comfortably beat Austria 3-0 in the Round of 32 before edging out Portugal 1-0 in the Round of 16.

Spain once again showed why they are one of the favourites to win this tournament by grabbing vital wins when it mattered most against Belgium.

Fabián Ruiz gave Spain the lead after 30 minutes, but before half-time Belgium equalised through Charles De Ketelaere, making it 1-1 at the break.

Neither team could find a winner until Mikel Merino came off the bench and Spain got the breakthrough they needed.

Spain Win After Sub Wins Late Goal

Spain’s substitute Mikel Merino has been something of a hero for them at this World Cup.

He was brought on late in the second-half against Belgium and made an instant impact, scoring the winner in the 92nd minute to secure a 2-1 victory for Spain and a place in the World Cup semi-finals.

Spain have had a number of match-winners this tournament but Merino’s strength as a super sub could be the difference for Spain.

Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente said his squad’s strength and togetherness was a big reason why they were able to win again when another substitute scored the winner.

Belgium Had Other Ideas and Nearly Won

Belgium matched Spain for large periods of this game and nearly pulled off an impressive upset.

Charles De Ketelaere’s equaliser stopped Spain’s goalscoring exploits and ended goalkeeper Unai Simon’s incredible 650-minute World Cup shutout streak.

Merino’s late goal stopped Belgium pouring forward in search of an equaliser and instead secured a win for Spain, knocking Belgium out in the quarter-final stage of the World Cup.

Spain Become the Second Team to Reach the Semi-Finals

With their 2-1 victory over Belgium, Spain became the second team to secure a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals.

France had earlier become the first semi-finalist after defeating Morocco 2-0 in their quarter-final.

Spain’s victory means two European football giants will now meet in one of the biggest matches of the tournament.

France vs Spain: Blockbuster World Cup Semi-Final Confirmed

Spain will face France in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final on July 14, 2026.

France reached the last four after beating Morocco 2-0, while Spain booked their place with a dramatic victory over Belgium.

The France vs Spain semi-final promises to be a fascinating battle between two of Europe’s strongest teams and will decide who advances to the FIFA World Cup 2026 final.

FIFA World Cup 2026: Semi-Finals at Dallas Stadium, Dallas, USA on 14 June

France became the first nation to book their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals after a commanding 2-0 victory over Morocco in the first quarter-final on Thursday. Led by captain Kylian Mbappé, Les Bleus delivered another clinical performance to continue their impressive march toward a second consecutive World Cup title.

France Continue Their Title Defence

After comfortably defeating Sweden (3-0) in the Round of 32 and edging Paraguay (1-0) in the Round of 16, France once again showed why they are among the tournament favourites. Against a determined Moroccan side, Didier Deschamps’ men controlled possession, created the better chances, and secured a deserved 2-0 victory.

The win makes France the first team to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals, while the remaining quarter-finalists continue their battle for the last three spots.

Mbappé Leads From the Front

French captain Kylian Mbappé once again proved to be the difference-maker. He opened the scoring with a brilliant finish before helping create France’s second goal, continuing his sensational tournament.

With eight goals in the competition, Mbappé remains the leading contender for the Golden Boot and has further strengthened his reputation as one of the world’s greatest footballers. His leadership and attacking brilliance have been central to France’s successful campaign.

Morocco’s Historic Journey Ends

Morocco’s remarkable World Cup journey came to an end in the quarter-finals, but their campaign will be remembered as another milestone for African football. After impressive performances throughout the tournament, the Atlas Lions were unable to find a breakthrough against France’s disciplined defence.

Despite the defeat, Morocco once again demonstrated the growing strength and competitiveness of African football on the global stage.

France Await Their Semi-Final Opponent

France will now face the winner of the Spain vs Belgium quarter-final in the first semi-final, scheduled for 14 July 2026. A victory there would send Les Bleus into another World Cup final as they continue their quest for another world title.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can a team apply, or only individuals?

The hackathon portal allows both individual and team applications. Teams should ensure that one member registers as the primary applicant and selects Shri Rawatpura Sarkar University, Raipur as the Host Implementing Entity (HI). All team members’ details can be added during the submission process.

Can a student from outside Shri Rawatpura Sarkar University apply through SRSU?

Yes. While Shri Rawatpura Sarkar University students are naturally encouraged to apply through us, students from other colleges, universities, and technical institutions across Chhattisgarh and beyond can also choose SRSU as their Host Implementing Entity. The resources, lab access, and technical mentorship we provide are open to all innovators who register through our institution.

Do I need to have a fully developed idea or prototype already?

No. The hackathon is designed specifically to capture early-stage concepts. You are submitting an innovative idea, not a finished product. The evaluation is strictly based on the quality, originality, and feasibility of your concept. The actual prototype is developed after selection, utilizing the comprehensive support of SRSU’s faculty and the allocated government funding.

What happens after my idea is selected?

Selected innovators are immediately onboarded into the SRSU Incubation and Entrepreneurship program. The ₹15 lakh government grant is released in structured tranches through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) to the university, which then manages the funds to support your prototype development, raw materials, testing, equipment access, and Intellectual Property (IP) filing. You will work side-by-side with SRSU research mentors and industry experts throughout this development phase.

Is there any fee to apply?

No. The application process is completely free of charge for all categories of participants, including students, independent innovators, and MSMEs.

What if I do not have a Udyam Registration for the MSME category?

You can easily register your MSME or startup on the official government Udyam portal at udyamregistration.gov.in free of cost. The process is fully online, quick, and paperless. Once registered, you will instantly receive your Udyam Registration Number, which you can use to complete your hackathon application under the MSME category.

Can I apply under multiple themes?

Each applicant or team should ideally submit one core idea under one primary theme. If you possess distinct innovations across entirely different themes, you may submit separate applications. However, please ensure that each submission represents a completely different innovation and is not a slight variation of the same idea.

FIFA World Cup 2026 FAQ

How to stream the 2026 FIFA World Cup online

In Brazil, CazéTV is again expected to play a major role in digital coverage through YouTube, while some territories may also provide free highlights, match replays, and tournament analysis even if full live coverage sits behind a subscription paywall.

Can you watch the World Cup on TikTok and social media?

Although platforms such as TikTok are unlikely to carry full live matches, they will still play a huge role in tournament coverage. Official broadcasters, national teams, players, and creators are expected to publish instant goal reactions, short-form highlights, training clips, fan celebrations, and behind-the-scenes footage throughout the competition.

These platforms will also become central hubs for viral moments and real-time fan engagement during the tournament.

What internet speed do you need to stream the World Cup?

For viewers planning to stream matches online, a stable internet connection will be essential for the best experience. HD streaming typically requires at least 5 to 10 Mbps, while Full HD and 4K streams benefit from significantly faster speeds. Fans using smart TVs or streaming devices may also improve playback quality by connecting through Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi where possible.

Can you watch the World Cup while travelling?

Fans travelling during the tournament may still be able to access their usual streaming services, although availability will depend on regional broadcasting agreements. Some platforms include travel-friendly access options, while others may restrict content outside specific countries.

Checking your broadcaster’s international streaming policies before travelling can help avoid interruptions during the tournament.

When does the 2026 FIFA World Cup start?

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place across June and July 2026 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It will mark the first World Cup featuring 48 teams and the first edition jointly hosted by three countries.

With an expanded format, more matches, and broader global coverage than ever before, the 2026 tournament is expected to deliver one of the most accessible and widely streamed sporting events in football history.

International Yoga Day 2026: History, 12 Ways to Celebrate, Themes & Inspiring Quotes https://rgten.com/international-yoga-day-2026-history-theme-quotes/ https://rgten.com/international-yoga-day-2026-history-theme-quotes/#respond Sat, 20 Jun 2026 20:46:22 +0000 https://rgten.com/?p=1525

International Yoga Day 2026 will be celebrated on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

International Yoga Day 2026 : Since 2015, International Yoga Day is observed on June 21 to spread awareness among the masses about the importance of Yoga and its effects upon human health.

The word `Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit word `yuj’, meaning `to join’ or `to unite’. It is meant to help the individual overcome suffering and help him/her evolve spiritually to the `state of liberation’.

A Brief History of Yoga

we could divide it into four periods:

  • Vedic Period
  • Pre-Classical Period
  • Classical Period, and
  • Post-Classical Period.

Vedic Period

The Vedas is the sacred scripture of Brahmanism that is the basis of modern-day Hinduism. It is a collection of hymns which praise a divine power. The Vedas contains the oldest known Yogic teachings and as such, teachings found in the Vedas are called Vedic Yoga. This is characterized by rituals and ceremonies that strive to surpass the limitations of the mind.

Pre-Classical Period

The creation of the Upanishads marks the Pre-Classical Yoga. The Upanishads explain the teachings of the Vedas. Yoga shares some characteristics not only with Hinduism but also with Buddhism that we can trace in its history. During the sixth century B.C., Buddha started teaching Buddhism, which stresses the importance of Meditation and the practice of physical postures. Siddhartha Gautama, the first Buddhist to study Yoga, achieved enlightenment at the age of 35. The main sources that provide information about Yoga and associated literature are available in the Vedas, Upanishads, Smritis,  teacheings of Buddha, Panini, the epics, the Puranas, etc.

Classical Period

500 BC to 800 AD is considered the classical period and also the richest period in the growth of Yoga. The commentary by Vyasa on Yoga Sutras was written during this period, and two great religious teachers—Mahavira and Buddha—made their appearance during this time. The eight-fold path by Buddha can be considered as the precursor of Yoga Sadhana. More elaborate explanations can be found in the Bhagwad Gita which presents, in greater detail, the concept of Gyan Yoga, Bhakti yoga, and Karma yoga. They are timeless and are relevant even today.

Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, besides focusing on various aspects of yoga, is identified with the eight-fold path of yoga (Yama, Niyama, Asanas, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, and Samadhi) During this period,  the focus was on the mind; Yoga seeks to bring both body and mind under control to experience equanimity.

Post-Classical Period.

The Post-classical period stretches from  800 A.D. – 1700 A.D. During this period, Adi Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya were the more prominent contributors, and the teachings of Suradasa, Mirabai, Tulsidas also gained prominence. Matsyendranath, Gorkshanatha, Suri, Gheranda, Shrinivasa Bhatt were responsible for spreading Hatha yoga during this period.

Later, in the mid-nineteenth century, Swami Vivekananda took Yoga to the West. Raja Yoga was developed by Ramana Maharshi, Ramakrishna Paramahansa, K Pattabhi Jois, Paramahansa Yogananda. Shri Yogendraji made a vital contribution to the field of yoga by demystifying it and making it available to the householder; this way yoga became accessible to millions, many of whom had believed till then that yoga was only for mystics and recluses.

On September 27, 2014, during his speech at the UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi put forth his suggestion for the occasion of a ‘Yoga Day’ “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day.”

International Yoga Day 2026 : Theme of International Yoga Day

The Theme for 2026: “Yoga for Sustainable Well-being and Global Peace”

The theme for 2026 highlights the urgent need to look inward for balance in a chaotic world. It underscores how individual mental peace translates directly into societal harmony and environmental consciousness. By fostering mindfulness, Yoga encourages conscious consumption and a harmonious relationship with our planet.

International Yoga Day 2026 :12 Ways To Celebrate International Day of Yoga

International Yoga Day is not a public holiday rather a public awareness day and people take part in awareness activities apart from joining yoga classes. Universities, colleges, schools, and NGOs arrange awareness congregations. The government of India takes a special interest in promoting this day by arranging grand yoga classes.

World Environment Day 2026: Theme, Significance, and the Power of Recycling https://rgten.com/world-environment-day-2026-theme-power-of-recycling/ https://rgten.com/world-environment-day-2026-theme-power-of-recycling/#respond Thu, 04 Jun 2026 20:38:08 +0000 https://rgten.com/?p=1262

World Environment Day 2026 Theme: How Recycling Fights the Climate Crisis

World Environment Day occurs annually on June 5th, acting as the United Nations’ leading vehicle for encouraging broad awareness and action around the environment. Celebrated across more than 150 countries by millions of people each year, World Environment Day has been actively engaging citizens and driving impactful environmental practices since 1972.

Earth temperatures are at an all-time high, and human-caused emissions are driving climate change on every continent. World Environment Day 2026 has never been more timely nor important to organize collective global efforts. Created as a day of action to combat the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution systemic to society. World Environment Day speaks truth to power by reflecting our authentic planetary pressures and showing us that it’s time to move beyond band-aid solutions and quick fixes.

A living, actionable platform for environmental impact, World Environment Day catalyzes legally-binding corporate commitments and scales bottom-up grassroots organizations to do their part. World Environment Day shows us that national-level climate pledges are useless without local communities doing their part to implement them. The negative impact humans have had on the planet is severe, but scaling local solutions to a global level is an opportunity we can no longer ignore.

2026 is placing special emphasis on implementing resilient economies that break our dependence on finite raw materials for industrial growth and production. Effectively shifting the conversation directly towards improved mechanical recycling systems. One important takeaway from World Environment Day 2026: if your organization has large amounts of plastic in their portfolio, now is the time to make truly traceable and high quality post-consumer content a mandatory requirement. Stop letting plastic be a persistent, long-life problem for the environment and start making sure it always returns to the manufacturing cycle.

History of World Environment Day

During the United Nations General Assembly’s’ conversation around making people care about their environment at the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment in 1972. It was important not only to get people involved but to educate them on how deforestation, overpopulation, pollution, and climate change were affecting our planet

With that said, World Environment Day was created.

First World Environment Day

1974 – “Only One Earth”

Theme for World Environment Day has been different every year since 1974 to stress the importance of taking care of our planet and its environment.

Why World Environment Day is Important

World environment day acts as a platform to enact real change by getting real people involved. From lobbying for direct legislation to shaming big polluters in the public eye. World Environment Day has the power to make a difference.

Here are just a few ways World Environment Day is driving real change:

  • Policy Changes: Countries all over the world are beginning to implement stricter EPR legislation and plastic neutrality goals.
  • Standardizing Pollution: Creating a global stage to address transnational pollution and marine degradation will be discussed by environmental ministers worldwide.
  • Funding Infrastructure: Growing initiatives to receive investments from VC’s and green bonds into next generation waste processing infrastructure and circular platforms.

World Environment Day inspires action by bringing scientific data we see about the climate crisis down to relatable solutions that affect us all. Let’s breakdown what World Environment Day means for the future of recycling:

Why World Environment Day 2026 Really Matters

Every year we continue to see past records broken for high temperatures across the globe. As well as record-breaking extreme weather conditions. We live in a world where climate change deniers have undeniable facts and dates to face. World Environment Day was established in 1972 as a celebration and organizational day to take better care of our planet.

Earth is talking, we just need to listen. The theme for World Environment Day 2026 is climate action for the future of us all. Here are a few things threatening our planet’s existence:

Climate Change

  • Temperature thresholds are about to be crossed which we will never be able to revert back from, causing glacier and ice sheet depletion.
  • Rising sea levels due to glacier and ice sheet melting. Which are also causing droughts.

Plastic Pollution

  • Millions of tons of plastic pollution end up in our oceans and ecosystems every year.

Biodiversity Loss

  • Habitats are being destroyed at an exponential rate, putting species at risk of extinction.

The main initiative that World Environment Day 2026 is trying to address is climate change. While it’s easy to get lost in the noise of political debates and polarized opinions, there is a silent green revolution happening across the world. Whether you believe in climate change or not, we can all agree progress is being made. Solar panels, wind turbines, and circular economies are being constructed at rapid rates and now we just need to steer that change in the right direction, and quickly.

World Environment Day Activities

Taking action can start from doing an activity. World Environment day activities are popping up all over the world to kickstart community involvement and open participation from everyone willing to take action. Not only as spectators, but as hands-on contributors to help save the environment. Here are some activities that you can take part in locally to help measure and improve your communities sustainability efforts and help contribute to the world.

worldwide. From eco-friendly activities that corporations are capable of doing, to things you can do in your backyard. Here are some of our favorite activities to spread awareness this World Environment Day 2026.

Industrial Plastic Audits

This will become increasingly popular as countries begin to crack down on plastic pollution. Ensuring products are reusable or compostable and made with easily recyclable materials should be every businesses standard.

Tree Planting

Initiating urban reforestation programs to help combat temperature increases in major cities and erosion. Planting new trees helps restore natural biodiversity while also helping cool local temperatures.

Cleanup Events

A great way to prevent plastic pollution from reaching our oceans is to keep it from being in the ocean at all. Volunteer with local communities to keep your coastlines and riverbeds free of debris that can harm wildlife.

E-Waste School Challenges

Hold a competition with local schools to see who can design the best algorithm to help sort waste with machines.

World Environment Day solutions start with recycling. But what can the average person properly recycle to make an impact? Here are a few recycling related actions you can take today to tie into this years theme.

  • Plastic – Can be broken down into PET and repurposed into new polyester products.
  • Metals – Aluminum cans are recycled into new cans and scrap metal into cars.
  • Electornics – E-waste is a huge pollutant that can be recycled into new electronics.

Climate change can be mitigated by moving from a Linear system to a Circular economy. How does recycling fit into that? Let’s take a look!

Linear vs Circular Economy

Linear Economy: Extraction → Manufacturing → Landfill (High Carbon)

Circular Economy: Manufacturing → Consumer → Recycling → Raw Material (Low Carbon)

Cutting Fossil Fuel Emissions

The production of new plastics involves creating virgin resin from crude oil. This process produces about 2.5 tonnes of CO2 for every tonne of plastic created. By recycling plastics, we can significantly lower industry emissions.

Conserving Energy

It takes less energy to create secondary raw materials from recycled goods. Producing new metals from scrap instead of mined ore reduces energy use by 60%

MaterialEnergy Saved via Recycling
Aluminum~95% less energy used
Plastics~30–80% less energy used
Paper/Cardboard~40% less energy used

Preventing Landfill Pollution

When trash is dumped into a landfill or open dump, things go terribly wrong. Organic waste decomposes into methane, a greenhouse gas 25x worse than CO2. Leaving electronics to slowly decay will leach heavy metals into groundwater.

Taking Action at Home

As we know, recycling is just one piece of the climate action puzzle. But if every person starts to think of waste as a resource instead of trash, we can dramatically improve Earth’s health. Here are some steps you can take today to start living a low waste lifestyle.

  • Segregate your waste: Make sure your biodegradable waste is not mixed with your recycling.
  • Avoid disposables: Things like plastic bottles, bags, and utensils make up ⅔ of plastic waste.
  • Support Extended Producer Responsibility: look for brands that pay to recycle their own packaging
  • Recycle e-waste properly: Old phones, laptops, and batteries should be taken to electronic stores to be recycled properly.

World Environment Day comes once a year, but that doesn’t mean we can only send a message to the earth about how hard we care once a year. Every action we take to live a low waste lifestyle not only benefits the environment but should better your life as well. Think of Waste as Food for the planet. What can YOU do to help the environment? Head over to World-Mapping.org and start making a change today!

Ready to get involved?

Earth is talking, let’s give her something to say! While record high temperatures and forest fires are one way our planet is speaking up. World Environment Day asks us: What signal will we send back? Sure you can’t single-handedly stop climate change, but you can play your part in taking better care of our world. Here are some simple steps you can take TODAY to make a difference:

Conduct a waste audit: Learn where you can cut back on energy consumption, travel, and daily purchases.

Ditch disposables: Switch to reusable bags, cups, containers.

Trees! Plant trees: Support nature based solutions by participating in local planting initiatives or fighting for local parks.

Register your own event: Join the global movement by listing your local clean-up, tree planting or awareness event on the World Environment Day Global Map.

Participate locally: Keep an eye out for local events being hosted by NGOs, your town, or even your kids school!

Visit the Official UNEP Website: For more info on how you can make an impact this World Environment Day. Visit the official UN Environment Programme website to learn more.

How to Get Involved

The Earth is sending us signals through record-breaking temperatures and extreme weather, and World Environment Day asks: What signal are we going to send in return? You do not need to be a policy-maker to make an impact. Consider these actionable steps you can take today:

  • Audit your footprint: Assess your energy use, travel habits, and daily consumption.
  • Reduce single-use plastics: Opt for reusable bags, bottles, and containers.
  • Support nature-based solutions: Participate in local planting drives or advocate for the preservation of local green spaces.

IPL 2026: Pace, hitting batsmen hard and Purple Cap honors for Kagiso Rabada https://rgten.com/ipl-2026-kagiso-rabada-purple-cap-powerplay-domination/ https://rgten.com/ipl-2026-kagiso-rabada-purple-cap-powerplay-domination/#respond Sun, 31 May 2026 20:07:24 +0000 https://rgten.com/?p=1251

IPL Purple Cap 2026: Kagiso Rabada

IPL 2026 Leading the pack is Kagiso Rabada with the Purple Cap.Kagiso Rabada picked up 29 wickets in 17 matches while maintaining an economy of just 9.68.

Winning the IPL Purple Cap title means being the best wicket-taker throughout the tournament. The accolade is a true reflection of each bowler’s consistency, ability and composure against the world’s best batsmen. This year, amid attacks comprising bombardments from batsmen pushing the boundaries of the game, South African pacer Kagiso Rabada has stood tall above the rest to take home the Purple Cap..

Leading Gujarat Titans’ bowling lineup, Rabada officially sits at the top of the bowling charts once again, highlighting his standing as one of the most feared bowlers in the game today.

Digging deeper into his success story

True to his style, Rabada has utilized his devastating pace, sharp bounce and ability to execute under pressure to propel him forward as Gujarat’s primary strike-bowling option. Let’s take a look at his stats:

  • Matches: 16
  • Wickets: 28
  • Economy: 9.44
  • Average: 20.79

Yes, an economy of 9.44 is on the higher side historically, but in today’s game of attacking batsmen and ever-increasing scores, Rabada’s 28 wickets in 16 matches demonstrates how often he destroys partnerships.

Taking everything head-on

However, what Rabada brings to the table for Titans isn’t limited to him being a strike bowler. In fact, he prides himself on his versatility and has shown he can bowl in all three phases of an innings:

  • The beginning: Taking wickets at the top to relieve pressure on the bowling lineup.
  • The middle: Coming back into the match to break partnerships when batsmen try to settle in.
  • The end: Utilizing full-length deliveries and smart cricketing skills to dry up runs and take wickets when batsmen are looking to attack.

“In crunch games, everyone plays their part and does whatever they can do to help the team win. It’s about doing your best every time you step on the field no matter how you feel. As long as you turn up and are not afraid to be competitive, that’s all I try and do. I’ve bowled at the beginning, in the middle and at the end. For me it’s whatever the team and coach ask me to.”–Kagiso Rabada

Rabada faced stiff competition from other death specialists including fellow Indians paceman Bhuvneshwar Kumar (RCB) who sits closely behind with 26 wickets and host of other power-hitters like Jofra Archer.

Standing out amongst such talent has been Rabada’s ability to perform match-winning spells when his team needs him most. By surpassing the 25-wicket mark this season, Rabada has solidified Gujarat’s spin column and set the benchmark for smart cricket.

FAQ

Who currently holds the Purple Cap in IPL 2026?

Kagiso Rabada of the Gujarat Titans is the current Purple Cap holder. He climbed to the top of the standings following Qualifier 2, bringing his tally to 28 wickets in 16 matches.

Who is Kagiso Rabada’s closest competitor for the award?

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar is right behind him in second place with 26 wickets in 15 matches. Because both the Gujarat Titans and RCB have made it to the final, the final match will decide the ultimate winner in a direct face-off.

What happens if Rabada and Bhuvneshwar finish with the exact same number of wickets?

If two bowlers finish the season tied on wickets, the Purple Cap is awarded to the bowler with the superior (lower) economy rate. If their economy rates are also identical, it goes to the bowler who has conceded fewer runs per wicket (better bowling average). Currently, Bhuvneshwar has the edge in economy (8.00 vs. Rabada’s 9.44).

Have either of these bowlers won the Purple Cap before?

Yes, both are previous winners:

  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar is an IPL legend who won back-to-back Purple Caps in 2016 and 2017 with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
  • Kagiso Rabada won the award in 2020 while playing for the Delhi Capitals, where he picked up 30 wickets.

Can any other bowler catch up to them in the final?

Realistically, no. The closest active challenger was Rajasthan Royals’ Jofra Archer with 25 wickets, but his campaign ended after RR was eliminated in Qualifier 2. The next closest active bowlers are Rashid Khan (19) and Mohammed Siraj (18), both from Gujarat, who are too far behind to bridge the gap in a single match.

What is the record for the most wickets taken in a single IPL season?

The record is jointly held by Dwayne Bravo (2013 for CSK) and Harshal Patel (2021 for RCB), who both picked up 32 wickets in a single edition. Kagiso Rabada’s personal best is 30 wickets (2020).
