Hon’ble Vice President of India has launched MSME Idea Hackathon 6.0 on the MSME Day 27.06.2026 for the novel and innovative ideas.
MSME Idea Hackathon 6.0 aims to promote inclusive innovation by offering a platform for citizens to ideate, design, and develop solutions addressing critical national challenges. The objective is to transform high-potential ideas into scalable MSME-driven ventures that align with the pillars of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Make in India, and Viksit Bharat @2047. This initiative will enable innovators to access mentorship, funding, incubation support, and a nationwide recognition platform.

Ideas received as fully completed applications from 27th June – 14th July 2026 will be considered for Incubation support under the MSME Idea Hackathon 6.0 scheme on the Portal meant for the purpose through the link: https://my.msme.gov.in/inc/& the portal will be open till 14.07.2026.

Objective: MSME Idea Hackathon 6.0 aims to foster innovation in frontier technologies by enabling MSMEs, startups, and innovators to develop scalable, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions across domains such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, automotive advancements, Industry 4.0/5.0, robotics, and emerging export-oriented sectors. The initiative seeks to strengthen global competitiveness, and accelerate the creation of future-ready, self-reliant MSME ecosystems aligned with Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @2047.
Target Group: The Hackathon is open to all India citizens aged above 18 years of age, regardless of their professional background or educational qualification. Participants may include MSMEs, students, entrepreneurs, technocrats, working professionals, academic researchers, and retired experts. The only prerequisite is a passion for problem-solving and a commitment to nation building. Participants shall apply on MSME Innovative portal on www.innovative.msme.gov.in. Themes for MSME Idea Hackathon 6.0
Theme 01 -Renewable Energy-
To promote the generation, storage, management and productive use of renewable energy through MSME-led products and technologies. Participants may work on solar, wind, biomass, biogas, bioenergy, green hydrogen, hybrid energy systems, battery storage, second-life batteries, renewable-energy-powered machinery, decentralized energy systems or clean-energy components. Solutions may include solar dryers, cold-storage units, pumps, process-heating systems, compact storage devices, monitoring tools or indigenous components that improve energy access and create commercially viable clean-technology opportunities for MSMEs.
Theme 02 -Energy Efficiency-
This sub-theme invites practical and affordable ideas that help MSME units reduce energy consumption, production costs and process losses. Participants may propose machine-level energy-monitoring devices, efficient motors and drives, compressed-air leakage detection, waste-heat recovery, efficient boilers and furnaces, improved refrigeration and cooling systems, process-optimization tools, thermal insulation, power-quality improvement or low-cost energy-solutions. Ideas should preferably demonstrate measurable energy savings and should be suitable for retrofitting or adoption by existing MSME units with limited capital and technical capacity.
Theme 03 – Automotive Technology-
This sub-theme seeks innovative ideas and prototype-ready solutions addressing emerging requirements across automotive manufacturing, electric mobility and mobility-support ecosystems. Participants may develop indigenous automotive components, electric motors and controllers, battery-management and thermal-management systems, charging and battery-swapping technologies, vehicle electronics, embedded systems, sensors, connected-vehicle solutions, lightweight and advanced materials, safety technologies, alternative-fuel systems, diagnostic equipment, testing tools and precision-manufactured parts. Ideas may also address component remanufacturing, vehicle maintenance, end-of-life vehicle recovery and digital solutions for automotive suppliers.
Theme 04 -Industry 4.0 and 5.0–
This sub-theme invites ideas that can make MSME manufacturing more connected, intelligent, flexible and human-centric through technologies such as the Internet of Things, digital twins, artificial intelligence, machine vision, cyber-physical systems and smart production monitoring. Participants may develop affordable sensors, machinery-retrofitting solutions, predictive-maintenance tools, digital work instructions, production, worker-assistance systems, product traceability solutions or other technologies that allow MSMEs to modernize existing operations without requiring complete replacement of their machinery and infrastructure.
Theme 05 -Robotics and Automation-
This sub-theme seeks affordable and adaptable automation solutions designed specifically for the scale and operating conditions of MSMEs. Participants may develop pick-and-place systems, machine-tending solutions, automated inspection tools, robotic welding or finishing systems, material-handling equipment, autonomous factory vehicles, computer-vision-based automation, modular controllers, adaptive grippers or retrofit kits for conventional machinery. Solutions should focus on ease of installation, safety, affordability, simple programming and suitability for small-batch, high-variety or labour-intensive production environments.
Theme 06 -Other Frontier Technologies–
This sub-theme invites innovative ideas in emerging and high-growth technology sectors not fully covered under the preceding categories, including advanced materials, drones, space technology, defence and dual-use technologies, medical devices, electronics and other high growth sectors. Participants may propose indigenous components, advanced coatings and composites, drone payloads and control systems, satellite-enabled applications, portable defence or communication systems, affordable diagnostic and assistive devices, embedded electronics, precision-engineered products, testing technologies or other solutions with clear potential for domestic manufacturing, import substitution, commercialization and exports.

A. Innovators of Indian Origin
Any individual of Indian origin with a valid email and mobile number is eligible to participate in the hackathon. This open eligibility criterion allows innovators from across the country to present their ideas and contribute to the growth of MSMEs in India.
B. Categories for Registration
Participants can apply under the following three categories:
- MSME Category: Registered MSMEs can participate by submitting their Udyam Registration Number. The Udyam Registration is essential for MSMEs to access benefits and financial support during the hackathon. You can register for Udyam if you haven’t done so already to ensure your eligibility.
- Student Category: Students who wish to participate must submit a valid Student Identity Card for the academic year 2025-2026. This category encourages the participation of young, dynamic minds with fresh and creative ideas that can reshape the MSME landscape.
- Others Category: This category is open to individual innovators who may not be part of an MSME or a student institution but have innovative ideas that could bring value to the MSME sector. Whether you are a freelancer, researcher, or an independent innovator, you can apply under this category.
Benefits Offered
Financial assistance up-to maximum of Rs. 15 lakh per approved idea, through the Host Institutes chosen by them for developing and nurturing of the idea into working prototype.

Can a team apply, or only individuals?
The hackathon portal allows both individual and team applications. Teams should ensure that one member registers as the primary applicant and selects Shri Rawatpura Sarkar University, Raipur as the Host Implementing Entity (HI). All team members’ details can be added during the submission process.
Can a student from outside Shri Rawatpura Sarkar University apply through SRSU?
Yes. While Shri Rawatpura Sarkar University students are naturally encouraged to apply through us, students from other colleges, universities, and technical institutions across Chhattisgarh and beyond can also choose SRSU as their Host Implementing Entity. Do I need to have a fully developed idea or prototype already?
No. The hackathon is designed specifically to capture early-stage concepts. You are submitting an innovative idea, not a finished product. The evaluation is strictly based on the quality, originality, and feasibility of your concept. The actual prototype is developed after selection, utilizing the comprehensive support of SRSU’s faculty and the allocated government funding.
What happens after my idea is selected?
Selected innovators are immediately onboarded into the SRSU Incubation and Entrepreneurship program. The ₹15 lakh government grant is released in structured tranches through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) to the university, which then manages the funds to support your prototype development, raw materials, testing, equipment access, and Intellectual Property (IP) filing. You will work side-by-side with SRSU research mentors and industry experts throughout this development phase.
Is there any fee to apply?
No. The application process is completely free of charge for all categories of participants, including students, independent innovators, and MSMEs.
What if I do not have a Udyam Registration for the MSME category?
You can easily register your MSME or startup on the official government Udyam portal at udyamregistration.gov.in free of cost. The process is fully online, quick, and paperless. Once registered, you will instantly receive your Udyam Registration Number, which you can use to complete your hackathon application under the MSME category.
Can I apply under multiple themes?
Each applicant or team should ideally submit one core idea under one primary theme. If you possess distinct innovations across entirely different themes, you may submit separate applications. However, please ensure that each submission represents a completely different innovation and is not a slight variation of the same idea.
